What is a Whoopie Pie?A whoopie pie is a baked good typically made of two round mound-shaped pieces of chocolate cake with a sweet frosting sandwiched between them. The origin of the whoopie pie has roots in Maine and Amish country. Maine Whoopie Pies are known worldwide. Whoopie pies have also been called a black-and-white, bob, or "BFO" for Big Fat Oreo.
Legend has it that the Whoopie Pie got its name from an children exclamation of “Whoopie” upon finding the treat in their lunchbox.
