A whoopie pie is a baked good typically made of two round mound-shaped pieces of chocolate cake with a sweet frosting sandwiched between them. The origin of the whoopie pie has roots in Maine and Amish country. Maine Whoopie Pies are known worldwide.  Whoopie pies have also been called a  black-and-white, bob, or "BFO" for Big Fat Oreo.

Where did the name Whoopie Pie come from?

Legend has it that the Whoopie Pie got its name from an children  exclamation of “Whoopie” upon finding the treat in their lunchbox.
